Covid-19 has caused the housing market to experience a spike in demand for homes located in natural settings, with views and outdoor spaces, as well as areas where we can breathe clean, healthy air.

 

Researchers have also found that people who do not have access to outdoor space in their homes suffer more anxiety than those who have a garden, terrace, balcony or who can simply enjoy views of the mountains or the sea.

According to the National Statistics Institute (INE), property prices in Spain rose by 4.2% in the third quarter of 2021 compared to the same period in 2020 and, according to the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, the average value per square metre now stands at €1,661, the highest figure since the end of 2011.

In the wake of the pandemic, a trend has taken hold that strengthens our bond with the space we inhabit, although it does not anchor us to any of it: teleworking or home office. This practice, while effective and just as productive as face-to-face work, makes it easier for us to move around, as it is no longer compulsory to spend the day in the office.
